Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, or CDDA as it's referred to on the internet, is an exciting new survival roguelike video game coming to Windows and Steam early next year. Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead follows up on the successful World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack, providing an improved gameplay experience as well as an improved look and feel. The basic idea behind the game is that you are stuck with one goal in this intense randomly generated maze-like environment: kill the enemy. Unlike most roguelikes, though, you'll be able to choose different paths through the maze, each leading to completely different outcomes.
One of the biggest pluses to downloading Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead for Windows, as well as other popular gaming platforms, is that the game comes completely free. Unlike some other titles which require you to fork over some money as part of the licensing process, this free application includes all of its content, and it's even free to use. There is no such thing as "paying for the way you play the game." It's free to enjoy. This makes for an ideal situation for gamers, especially those who like to experiment with different play styles, because it's very easy to try out the game using the trial version and simply ignore any money costs associated with the application.
Although CDDA does come with a free trial, it's not entirely clear if that version will be available after the release date. Some forums, such as the WoW forums, suggest that it will, but there isn't a direct answer from Blizzard. If you want to download the application and have a chance to see for yourself how it works before buying, do so by downloading the Windows version of the program. As with anything else on the internet, there's always a danger of getting what you pay for. However, if you are looking for a quality free application with a large number of features, Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead proves to be a great download.
